What's up, Doc?

Picture taken from here

I know, I've been rather quiet since I came back from the US. Been extremely busy.

My part time lecturing has started and my MBA class has also started. Then there was the 5 days MetalTech exhibition which we participated. That was a killer, I tell ya!

Well anyway, I rushed to class this afternoon, mentally freaking myself out wondering how I am gonna conduct a 4 hour class on the subject Research Methods in Communication, and all that. It always take a while (like a few weeks and a few classes) to get our thinking juice flowing on how to go about lecturing without boring the students to tears, coz I myself felt like crying while reading the text book, know what I mean?

As if that's not hard enough, we have to be creative in how we deliver the message and still get the students feeling excited about their research project, how do you beat that..?

So there I was nervous like hell when I stepped into the class, and waalaaa... I saw this on my table.

Happy Teacher's Day...! My students shouted.

Eeermm... I'm not sure if today is the actual day or not, but I was pleasantly surprised that they made the gesture to present me with something to show their appreciation, despite the fact that today is only my 2nd class with them, and I'm not too sure either whether they understood what I was painstakingly trying to explain to them about the boring subject that yours truly have to teach.

And I thought such teacher's day is only celebrated in school, not in college. Anyway, it was nice, even though the admin department gave them the wrong spelling on my surname. Had it been my students who got it wrong, I would have deducted marks from their exam.. :P

Oh wait! You know what? I think this is called bribery...!!!

Enough of that, I managed to get through the 4 hours, but with some hiccups here and there. After lunch at Wangsa Walk, as I was about to rush back to college for my class, it started pouring cats and dogs. And I mean "pouring". So in the pouring rain, I ran back, and walked into my class looking like a drenched kitten, huffing and puffing like I just did a marathon. Fun, eh?

After class, as I was preparing to run out, get into my car and rush home, I found that it was pouring again, this time even more heavy. The sky was extremely dark, so I had to wait for a while. But... I managed to get home, and that was my Tuesday for me.

After having gone through all that, I agreed with ST that we shall go for our favorite food for dinner.

Fried mee hoon with fish head (kum heong style)

And the highlight of the night.....

"Seong thong la-la" (Clams cooked in chinese rice wine with ginger and chili padi)

It is super yummmylicious..........!!!! But I am also very "high", hicks..!! Not sure how I'm gonna do any reading tonight.. -__-

Caught in a storm?

Picture taken from here

The travelling and killer exhibition may be over, but somehow I feel as if I am caught right in the middle of an invisible storm.

Hope it will pass soon. Not a pleasant situation to be in.

All I Ask of You - Phantom of the Opera

Picture taken from here

All I Ask of You
(Click here for the video clip)

Raoul
No more talk of darkness
Forget these wide-eyed fears
I’m here, nothing can harm you
My words will warm and calm you
Let me be your freedom
Let daylight dry your tears
I’m here, with you, beside you
To guard you and to guide you

Christine
Say you love me every waking moment
Turn my head with talk of summertime
Say you need me with you now and always
Promise me that all you say is true
That’s all I ask of you

Raoul
Let me be your shelter
Let me be your light
You’re safe, no one will find you
Your fears are far behind you

Christine
All I want is freedom
A world with no more night
And you, always beside me
To hold me and to hid me

Raoul
Then say you’ll share with me one love, one lifetime
Let me lead you from your solitude
Say you need me with you, here beside you
Anywhere you go, let me go too
Christine, that’s all I ask of you

Share each day with me
Each night, each morning
Say you love me
You know I do
Love me, that’s all I ask of you

This is another lovely song

Cirque Du Soleil - Fashion?

Picture taken from here

We went to watch Cirque Du Soleil - La Nouba, in Orlando. We arrived at the place early because, being a Saturday night, we wanted to soak in the downtown Disney atmosphere.

We had plenty of time to spare at the CDS souvenir shop, and trust me, I had to grit my teeth to prevent myself from grabbing some of the really fabulous handbags, wallets, coin pouches, etc that was on sale. After some time, I decided to walk out without purchasing anything. Terror eh..? ST bought a fridge magnet, needless to say.

However, after the performance, it was totally a different story. I was so blown away, that I was adamant to get a souvenir. The performance was so inspiring, I wanted to have something that will continue to inspire me, something which I can remember of. Also I wish to honour the team of performers by owning a piece of the item from there.

So I went and bought a lady purse as a souvenir. Not to use but to keep.

However, when I came back, my old wallet "kaput". So I thought I'd use the CDS wallet/purse until I have time to find a new one. Yesterday I was at The Empire Shopping Gallery browsing around at wallet counters, when the lady at the counter saw my CDS wallet and couldn't help commenting that I have a truly gorgeous looking wallet.

This is the wallet that I bought

Click on any picture for a clearer view

It's a three fold wallet

I came back, went online out of curiosity, started to google and found that CDS has a Cirque Du Soleil Online Boutique for fashion items, and OMG, the bags and stuffs that I saw in there are really to die for...!!!

So I decided to highlight some of them here.. enjoy!

I love this backpack...!!!! I love it! I love it! I love it!

The back view

I love this one too......!!!!

Gorgeous, don't you think so..?!?!

This is a bag. Unique, ain't it...?

Geeez... if they had this one in Orlando, I would have bought it for sure..!!!!

Music of the Night - Phantom of The Opera

Picture taken from here

Music of the Night - Phantom of the Opera
(Click here for the video clip)

For those who have not heard this song before, be patient and listen to the first 3 minute of the song, and you will know why I love this song so much and also why this is one of Andrew Lloyd Webber's songs that have been most widely recorded and were hits even outside of their parent musicals.

Those melodic and powerful operatic voice, that can have you transfix, and after that, have you yearn to hear them again and again. This is an eternal classic.

Night time sharpens, heightens each sensation
Darkness stirs and wakes imagination
Silently the senses abandon their defences

Slowly, gently night unfurls its splendour
Grasp it, sense it, tremulous and tender
Turn your face away from the garish light of day
Turn your thoughts away from cold unfeeling light
And listen to the music of the night

Close your eyes and surrender to your darkest dream
Purge your thoughts of the life you knew before
Close your eyes, let your spirit start to soar
And you live as you’ve never lived before

Softly, deftly, music shall caress you
Hear it, feel it secretly possess you
Open up your mind, let your fantasies unwind
In this darkness that you know you cannot fight
The darkness of the music of the night

Let your mind start a journey to a strange new world
Leave all thoughts of the life you knew before
Let your soul take you where you long to be
Only then can you belong to me

Floating, falling, sweet intoxication
Touch me, trust me, savor each sensation
Let the dream begin, let your darker side give in
To the power of the music that I write
The power of the music of the night

You alone can make my song take flight
Help me make the music of the night

Think of Me - Phantom of The Opera

Picture taken from here

Think of me - Phantom of the Opera
(Click here for the video clip)

Think of me, think of me fondly
When we’ve said goodbye
Remember me once in a while
Please promise me you’ll try

Then you’ll find that once again you long
To take your heart back and be free
If you’ll ever find a moment
Spare a thought for me

We never said our love was evergreen
Or as unchanging as the sea
But if you can still remember
Stop and think of me

Think of all the things
We’ve shared and seen
Don’t think about the way
Things might have been

Think of me, think of me waking
Silent and resigned
Imagine me trying too hard
To put you from my mind

Recall those days, look back on all those times
Think of those things we’ll never do
There will never be a day
When I won’t think of you

Can it be? Can it be Christine?
Bravo!

Long ago, it seems so long ago
How young and innocent we were
She may not remember me
But I remember her

Flowers fade, the fruits of summer fade
They have their seasons, so do we
But please promise me that sometimes
You will think of me

I truly enjoy the beautiful singing in The Phantom of the Opera, and the way all those lovely mesmerizing songs were woven into the entire plot. Watching it live, experiencing the beautiful scenery and amazing special effects and back drops, makes me wish I can watch it over and over again.

If you have no access to any of the live musicals near where you live, there is a movie made on it. You can purchase the DVD, but before you watch it, it's always good to read up a bit on the story line so that you have a better idea. That's because when you are watching it, there are too many other elements/aspects in the movie that your eyes will be watching out for. To read about the story line, click here.

Picture of the day

This is so unbelievable!!! My 2 furball - Tabby & Timon sharing the comforter and sleeping side by side...!!!!

Under normal circumstances, the 2 of them will never be caught near each other, except on those few brief moments when they greet each other by rubbing noses.

Other than that, Timon just love to intimidate Tabby, and is rather territorial. In fact, he loves to creep up on her and give her a heart attack, and usually for that, he gets a swat in his face by her paw-paw chai. He never likes sharing anything with her. Tabby on the other hand, is a nervous wreck and forever anxious, so she can never tolerate being near Timon.

This afternoon, perhaps it could be due to the heavy downpour, Tabby decided to sleep on Timon's favorite comforter. The amazing thing is, Timon decided to sleep at his favorite place, and didn't even chase Tabby away. The more amazing thing is that, Tabby didn't budge despite the fact that Timon lied down just next to her.

We need to go and "tikam" already, as the Chinese says (means go and buy lottery).. :P
