Weekend of feasting & exploring (P1)

Never had so much Penang food as the one we had last weekend. We were suddenly hit by this craving for everything Penang this recent trip, but only managed the following.

Feel free to click on any picture for a clearer view

First on the list, Penang "char o-chien" (fried oyster)  at the junction of Macalister Road & Lorong Selamat. Myyy... it's yuummyy....!! The coffee shop is called Yi Garden.

While we were attacking the fried oyster, there was a stall operator nearby frying “keropok” (crackers). It looked so delicious and fresh. As the pile gets higher, we got so tempted to nip 1-2 pieces on our way out. Eventually we gave in to our greed. ST "pretended" to ask the lady what keropok it is. To our surprise, not only did she tell us it’s fish keropok, she even asked us to try a piece or two. As if that’ not enough, she even offered to pack a small packet for us to take away FREE.

This is the keropok, but this picture ended up tilting 90 degree anti clock wise, I dunno why. So tilt you head please.. :-D

Next stop, Restaurant Sin Kim San along Macalister Road.

                                    Penang char koay teow, sluurrrppp....!!!

                                    Har meen (prawn mee), best....!!!!

Penang chee cheong fun, with fish paste, different from KL one..

On the way out of the restaurant, we walked past a seafood stall, with trays after trays of seafood on display.

Don’t ask me what this is, I dunno. But I do love the shapes in a bunch like this.. :-D

Bali toong. But what I'm trying to point out is... see the 3 fellas at the corner of the tray (top left) desperately trying to escape. Run, Forest, run…!!!

Oooops, met Paul again in Penang. This time many Pauls. Or rather, local Pauls, getting ready to be COOKED...

This looks so good. It has loads of vegies & potato. ST discovered this at the Juru R&R from Penang back to KL. It's one of my favorite Malay food.

A real tree house in Penang

This trip back to Penang, I made sure that I brought along my camera to capture the actual tree house, which is just a short distance away from my in-law's.

(Click on pix for a clearer view)

I love to get ST to drive past this house occasionally. It never fail to put a smile on my face.

Uh, I think my lappie is spooked. Either that or the pix is spooked. There's a pix of the same tree house which I've been trying to up-load in here, but each time it gets up-loaded, it's tilted 90 degree anti-clock wise, despite the fact that on my lappie (after having gone and check out the pix like 20 times, it looks correct). Or is it the blogspot problem...? Hmmm.... scary. Anyway, have to make do with this one above.

Best fish ball noodle soup

Had this for lunch today. The best that I've ever eaten. Under normal circumstances, I don't eat fish ball or fish cake, but this one is different. It claims to use grouper fish meat. The fish ball is very much bigger and more "chewy" and you can taste the real fish in it, yet it's not fishy. The fish cake is big piece, thick and taste "really" nice. You know that it's not made of flour, yuuumm.....!!

And the chili padi, gosh, don't under estimate it's ordinary look. It's got the ummmph and can really make your day.. :-D

If you happen to be in Kota Kemuning, stop by the coffee shop called Poh Yap, opposite McD and behind EON Bank. A must try..!

What's Up, Doc?

Don’t ask me what’s that kangaroo doing up there. That’s the best which I could find, which is downloadable for FREE from the net (I think.. ). And it's not funny, ok. I was having a hard time trying to think of how to overcome this problem. And sometimes I get so confused with what royalty free pictures means and all that jazz. I know for a fact that it’s illegal to download pictures from the internet to be used on our blog, or is it? I started out blogging just to try and to test it out, I never thought that I would still be blogging after 4 ½ months. Initially I just took whatever pix that I fancied in the net and up-loaded them into my blog. I thought probably after a few weeks, or maybe a few months, my interest in blogging would eventually fade off. Mana tau....

Knowing me, I don’t do illegal stuffs mah… at the back of my mind, I seem to have this "bugs bunny" looking at me sideway (dis-approvingly) each time I do it.. what the..!@#$?#!

So, back to the pictures issue, I’ve checked out several free sites but those pix on display are so un-inspiring and so boring. I see also no mood to blog already. Need to have this problem resolved somehow. Otherwise, my blogging interest will really fade out for sure.

I was feeling a bit emotional this week, due to several reasons. First is the post world cup depression or withdrawal symptom, as some call it. Second it is because of the picture and story that I saw in FB about the dog that was left to die near Kelana Jaya area, after it was hit by a car. It truly pains me to see animal suffering and in pain, coz they are neither able to help themselves like we humans do and neither could they speak out.

“The world is dangerous to live in, not because of people who do evil but because people sit and let it happen.” – Albert Einstein

Eh.., wrong quote..., or maybe it's correct, I'm also confused. Wait, I go check and correct it later, if I find the right one.

Thirdly….. I can’t remember what it is, old already. I just know that I was very un-focused and unstable emotionally. Of course, having another world cup fan in the same house, who’s favorite 2 teams were knocked out in the round of 16 group didn’t help either. The only up-lifting thing that got us through is the Mamma Mia movie which we saw on Friday. We made my 2nd brother and his family watch the movie and they are now hooked and high on it too.. :-D

Oh yes, now I recall, he..he..  Thirdly it is because of the picture issue in the blog laa.. That sort of like became a hindrance to my blogging. When I felt like blogging, I became conscious about what picture to use, and when I couldn’t find a FREE pix that is to my liking, I kind of like drop the idea of posting something. So, there… these were the few items, I guess.
