Melinda Looi at Indonesia Fashion Week 2013

I have always been a fan of Melinda Looi (from Malaysia). While following her fashion journey in her FB recently, I came across this recent show of hers in Indonesia.

I've always been fascinated with her incorporation of nature and culture into her designs. And we all know Indonesia is one country with a culture so mystifying and unique, I decided to check out her video clip in youtube.

And I have not been disappointed indeed. Famous for her avant-garde and vintage style, you must have a look at this.

I love some of her designs here, love the huge wide spaced runway and also in this video clip, I find that some of Denny Wirawan's designs are awesome! Would love to have some of his clothes..! You must check out his site (the link has been incorporated into his name).

Cheers!

My dose of Lion Dance Performance in the year 2013

I love watching lion dance performances, especially during the Chinese New Year, and this year, it was no different.

Lion dance performances are most meaningful to the Chinese community because it expresses joy and happiness. It helps us start the new year with invigorating energy and positive anticipation for a great year to come.

To the business community, it is an artistic and powerful Chinese traditional performance, that is believed to bring wealth, health and prosperity to the business and audiences.

The performance is usually accompanied with acrobatic stunts and martial arts, which is amazing and heart stopping to watch. The lion is given various kinds of difficult challenges and the entire performance signifies that no matter how difficult those challenges are, it can be overcome with hard work, team effort and courage.

As per last year, I decided to watch the performance at Bread Basket Bakery (Triple B), in Kota Kemuning.

It's my all time favorite coffee place. The cosy little corner where I come to take a well deserved break after half a day's work, where I heal my soul and enjoy a few minutes of "me time".

Triple B is one place with a soul and a unique characteristic of its own. Many a time we wanted to go out of KK to find new place for coffee and food, but we always find that we keep coming back here for it's aromatic cuppa, their creative food and their heart warming little gestures and casual chats. It's like how you keep going back to an old friend for company and comfort.. :-D

It is usually during festive seasons that Triple B comes to mind even more, when it comes to dining. They have a way of keeping the old tradition and spirit alive.

This year we were given a spectacular performance by an experience team. Watching them jump from pole to pole in team efforts, and landing on their team mate's shoulder, alternating steps and poses while at the same time making sure each of their step is aligned to their partner's and the drum beat, was sheer enjoyment. Their sure footing skills permeates a form of confidence and assurance which we love to see, to help us start the new year!

Thank you for the great show, great lunch and here I wish them "Gong Xi Fa Chai, Xin Nien Kwai Lek, Nien Nien You Yue!"

Looking to connect with nature?

Picture taken from here

Why don't we start in our own backyard?

On this day, spare a thought for our furry friends. That's the least you can do for those that shares our planet.

Feeling empty and need a friend? Why not drop by the farm and make friends with the residences in there?

Make a change today. Mark this date in your calendar.. :-D

Hong Kong story continues...

Feel free to click on picture for a clearer view

At Work

Attending the Stratasys Annual Kick-Off Sales Conference with Farida Win from Indonesia.

It was a hectic and intense meet this time round. Nevertheless, it was nice to see all our old friends again.

 Good old friends from India

This was taken on the last day, after the conference ended.

Goofing around with our Japanese friends at the lobby while waiting for transfer. This (Makoto Ito) is one cool guy, I tell ya!

At Leisure

On the island

With only 2 days in Hong Kong, and no plans drafted on what we intended to do, we took my sis-in-law's advise by taking the ferry across to the island via Wan Chai & hopped on to the "ting-ting" (cable car) all the way to Sheung Wan.

Earlier on, we asked the hotel to help us make table reservation at "Yung Kee Restaurant" for the world famous "siew ngor" (roasted goose). It is a must go.

And spectacular it was...

The famous appetizer - century egg

Heavenly....!!!

Day 2 was spent exploring the street from Mody Road - Carnavon Road - Cameron Road - Nathan Road - Harbour City Mall.

Note the scaffolding that Hong Kong uses in their construction process. They use nothing bamboo.. :-D

This is something widely practiced in Asia, especially Hong Kong. Due to its versatility and eco-friendliness, bamboo is an extremely cost effective resource. What's surprising, it is durable enough to support the weight of builders, their equipment and materials.

This picture was taken at the Harbour City MallYou wouldn't believe how big this place is.

That's Logos Hope behind me. With over 400 volunteers, from 60 different nations, Logos Hope aims to bring knowledge, help and hope to the people around the world.

We couldn't afford to buy anything in the mall despite the huge discount. Instead, I bought a pair of Merrell walking shoe at one of the little shoe shop (amongst the shop lot) along one of the roads outside our hotel. This one is also on huge discount.. :)))

It's extremely comfortable..!!!

We walked to the Avenue of Stars around 7 pm, selected the best view seat (coz it's free), waited for the 8 pm symphony of light show while at the same time, enjoyed the night scene of Hong Kong and the cool weather. That was our third time watching the light show. Still as magnificent.

This time round when the show started, we sat transfixed absorbing the music and the synchronization of light show, instead of getting busy taking photos. I believe we took enough in our first trip there.

My biggest achievement for this trip..? I managed to snap some pictures of the roast goose and century egg, and I can proudly say that they're MY pictures.. :P

That's all, folks!
