Today I don't feel like doin anythin

Today I don't feel like doing anything
I just wanna lay in my bed
Don't feel like picking up my phone, so leave a message at the tone
Coz today I swear I'm not doing anything

I'm gonna kick my feet up then stare at the fan
Turn the TV on, throw my hand behind my head
And nobody's gonna tell me I can't

Lie down to cure your ails

My yoga pose of the month – Legs up the wall (Viparita Karani)

This month, my feet and legs went through hell as we participate in the MetalTech Show for 5 full days in PWTC. Standing for long hours in our working shoe is no joke. By the time I get home, my calf and feet would be extremely painful and numb beyond words at the same time.

To ensure that it gets proper treatment at night, I soak them in a pail of warm water with epsom salt for 10 - 15 minutes.

After which, I will then rest them up on the wall like in the top most picture. This pose is designed for undoing, repairing and restoring. It is a restorative pose with a mild inversion.

Viparita Karani pose improves our circulation, calms our nervous system and supports the back.

Benefits
1) Relieve tired or cramp feet
2) Gently stretches the calves, back and neck
3) Relieves mild backache

Try it, it feels heavenly...

Life is not like a drama; Life IS drama (Part 1)

What goes on when people open their mouth to communicate? This theory is to figure out why a writer or a speaker selected the words that were choreographed into the message. The task is ultimately one of assessing motives.

Language is a strategic human response to a specific situation. Verbal symbols are meaningful acts from which motives can be derived. Clusters of words are dances of attitudes. The task is to find out their motives.

In Burke’s methodology, he uses 3 perspectives to analyze public address :
1) Identification
2) Dramatistic Pentad
3) Guilt Redemption Cycle

1) Identification - Without it, there is no persuasion
Burke is concerned with a speaker’s overall ability to identify with an audience. Identification is the common ground that exists between speaker and audience. Substance is a person’s physical characteristics, talents, occupation, background, personality, beliefs and values.

The more overlap there is between the substance of the speaker and the substance of the listener, the greater the identification is (perceived similarity). Audience sense a joining of interest through styles as much as through content.

2) The Dramatistic Pentad
Persuasion – the communicator’s attempt to get the audience to accept his or her view of reality as true.

This perspective is a tool to analyze how the speaker tries to do it. This method is deceptively similar to the standard journalist practice of answering who, what, where, when, why and how in the opening paragraph of a story.

Burke recommends that a content analysis identifies key terms on the basis of frequency and intensity of use. The pentad directs the critics attention to 5 crucial elements of the human drama : act, scene, agent, agency, purpose.

By evaluating the ratio of importance in the content, the critic can determine which element provides the best clue to the speaker’s motivation. The pentad offers a way to determine why the speaker selected a given rhetorical strategy to identify with the audience. When a message stresses one element over the other four, it reveals a speaker’s philosophy or wordview.

Look out for my next post for continuation…

I spied...

Saw this lovely white gold pendant in Tiffany's, under the brand Elsa Peretti. I think it is so beautiful and exquisite. They have it in platinum too. Personally, I prefer the platinum.

Here's another one..

Just want to share something that's worth sharing.. :-D

Full steam ahead!

That’s it! I’ve gone ahead to register and paid a deposit to do my MBA. It’s now a “do or die” thing!

The idea of doing my MBA has been in my head for years..!!! Last year, I was fully adamant and motivated to get it started by early 2011. Somehow, something came up at the beginning of the year, that sort of delayed it, and geeez…. delay it did! And the delay somehow started a chain of doubts and considerations in my mind that almost had me giving up the idea. It wasn’t a pleasant period, I tell ya! The conflict that was going through me, whether to proceed or to abandon plan, whether to take the easy way or the hard way, that was a tough one.

Anyhow, it’s done! The money has been paid, I am now waiting for the college to provide me the letter and documents required for the application of EPF withdrawal, to fund the study. That should take about a month, after which, I should be able to start my 18 months journey, depending on what is the earliest available course being offered.

It’s a tough route that I have chosen, I can’t deny that, but it’s something that I have decided to go through with and go through I will (...I WILL...!?!? wtf...!?!? What have I gotten myself into..?).

Why am I making such a big fuss over such a common thing, you may ask. It’s just an MBA, for goodness sake, everyone is taking it and almost everyone has it. Well, to be honest, I am not the study material type.

If normal people take 1 day to understand something, it will probably take me 2 weeks to do so. Yeah, that’s me! I will have to work like 200% if not more, than most people in my studies. That’s why it is such a tough decision for me to actually decide to pursue my MBA. Just the thought of it itself is enough to make my knees wobble in weakness, and my hands tremble in fear.

With the deposit paid, there’s no looking back anymore, it’s just looking forward and moving on, no matter how difficult. And boy! Am I mighty nervous about it….!

Will need all the luck I can get, to get through this! Here, wish me again....

and again....

Aaaah, that is better. Ok la, will have to do for now... :-D

Love that pendant up there woooo... :-P

Taking the final step

Okay....! The last hurdle has been cleared! Finally..!! It wasn't easy, but it's cleared. Now, can I proceed and push myself to take the last and final step...?

Is it gonna be the easy way or the hard way..?
